Extended partnership for IoW & LB CRP

5th February 2009

Executive Member for Environment Councillor Melville Kendal confirmed today, that Hampshire County Council have included costs in their Budget for the Lymington-Brockenhurst Community Rail Partnership covering RDO Bobby Lock's remuneration via Isle of Wight Council for works done for the Lymington-Brockenhurst Community Rail Partnership..

When asked, Cllr Kendal said;

 "The partnership between the Mainland and Island shows best practice for other local authorities to follow. The excellent work Bobby Lock is doing and the considerable amount of funding she has raised helps us meet our LAA targets for sustainable transport, health, education and regeneration, demonstrating excellent value for money and a high return for our investment.

The Isle of Wight CRP working in partnership with our Lymington-Brockenhurst CRP can be assured of our full support to keep up the good partnership links forged with projects such as TravelSafe, all of which assist us in getting more commuters and school children onto public transport and off our roads. Further more I have included similar amounts in our three year forward plan in addition to the budget for 2009/10 and look forward to a long partnership between the local authorities and all their partners to sustain the CRP's on both sides of the water.”
